# Assigning an enquiry

{% embed url="<https://www.loom.com/share/8e39aa1412b04fe28e0c5e1db86d1a75>" %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Good to know:** Assigning an enquiry transfers responsibility of the enquiry to the named person or team.
{% endhint %}

All new enquiries are automatically **Unassigned**. To assign an enquiry, you need to select **Assign**. When assigning an enquiry, you are presented with three options:

1. Assign the enquiry to yourself
2. Assign the enquiry to a colleague
3. Assign the enquiry to a team

As soon as you have assigned the enquiry, it will appear in the **Assigned** list. When you open an enquiry, you will be able to see who has been assigned the enquiry.

To improve transparency, all assigned cases are visible to all.

When assigning the enquiry to a team, you can select the team from the drop down menu. To create Teams, check out the article on **Teams**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://law-centres-network.gitbook.io/enquirydesk-documentation/guides/assigning-an-enquiry.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
